Iris Platt

Iris fell in love with yoga after being reintroduced to it during her time living and dancing in Israel. She later moved to New York City from Boston to complete her undergraduate studies in dance and biology at Marymount Manhattan College. Her dance background brings a unique perspective to the vinyasa and aerial flow and her biology background encourages her students to work intelligently and consciously with their bodies. Her flows demand that students organize, embody and experience the present. Her teacher trainings have included OFSY's Aerial Yoga Teacher Training and 200-Hour Vinyasa Teacher Training; she is also expecting to complete her 300-Hour advanced teacher training from Yogamaya NYC by the end of 2016. In addition to working with the asana practice, Iris also teaches meditation, pranayama, and pre/postnatal yoga.

Alongside her career as a vinyasa and aerial yoga instructor and professional dancer, Iris is a graduate student at Columbia University. Her research in systems neuroscience explores the integration of movement practices and improvisation in everyday life. Her current work examines the effects of intentional movement on neural plasticity and other cognitive/behavioral processes.
