Ilana Cruger-Zaken

Ilana Cruger-Zaken is a lifelong New Yorker who was raised in a family soaked in spirituality, music, and art. A former opera singer, yoga provided a window to the rich wisdom of the body-mind-spirit union. Throughout years of teaching, she fell deeply in love with the experience of connecting to students through growth, challenges, and exploration of the form. Ilana is currently completing a master’s degree at The New School in Manhattan, and rescues cats with her partner in Brooklyn in between classes.

Ilana first completed a comprehensive Pilates certification program through Balanced Body Education in 2011 and her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Sonic Yoga with Lauren Hanna and Johanna Bell in 2012. She went on to complete several more advanced trainings, including a 300-hour with Shiva Rea and a 300-hour at Laughing Lotus in New York City. She draws from a broad palette of practices to create intuitive classes which are informed by the bodies in the room and designed to address the psychological, spiritual, and physical stresses and strains of contemporary life. In addition to vinyasa and Pilates, Ilana also specializes in prenatal and restorative yoga.
