Sylvana Tapia

Sylvana earned her B.F.A. in Dance and minor in Fine Art Photography from Adelphi University in 2011. Sporting a modern dance education focused on classical modern techniques such as Graham and Taylor, she currently dances with Maya Kite and Dancers, Caliince Dance, Mazzini Dance Collective, Coyote Dancers, and performs her own solo choreography in collaboration with other contemporary artists. Sylvana discovered the joy of flight and all things cirque-tacular at OM Factory Flight School and owes her current aerial career to the valuable tutelage of OM Factory's SKYBOX instructors. You can catch her flying around NYC and beyond alongside her performance partner Kyla Ernst-Alper under the stage name RAVEN.  As a freelance performer, Sylvana is no stranger to venues such as The Slipper Room, Diamond Horseshoe, The Box, The Kymberle Project, and House of Yes.  She completed her 200-Hour Vinyasa Yoga certification at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center and graduated from the OFSY's Aerial Yoga Teacher Training. Sylvana currently teaches Aerial Dance and Silks at the Union Square studio.  As a teacher, her focus falls upon not only the execution of tricks, but also on drawing out the inherent expression that is unique to every individual.
